REGISTRATION
IS THIS TORAJA TRIP FOR YOU?
If you want...
1. to cycle among lush tropical mountains;
2. to experience life in a traditional Indonesian (Torajan) mountain
village;
3. to learn about the highly distinctive traditional Torajan culture;
4. to learn enough Indonesian language to ‘get around’;
5. to revel in the thrills of white water rafting;
6. to be a member of a team of like-minded people from different countries bent on experiencing the rich cultural traditions of Toraja Land;
7. to understand the vagaries of a non-tourist and non-commercial
environment because in some places the accommodation will be basic, the food
simple and the daily scheduling may sometimes go awry......due to local
conditions;
8. to accept the surprizes that a Third world rural environment can give a non Third world person;
9. to live without Western food or alcohol for a few days because most
of the time we’ll be in ‘village Indonesia’ where many aspects of Western
life are simply not available;
10. to enjoy the healthy physical exertion of 4-5 days of awesome
mountainous terrain;
11. to maintain a sense of humor while travelling in a group where
sensitivity towards others’ needs is important. Caring, sharing and helping
others will be integral aspects of the ride;
12. to appreciate and respect the fact that Indonesians have their own traditions, customs and attitudes.....which may be quite different to yours;
13. to understand that the locals are gregarious, welcoming, and have their ways of relating to foreigners...which means that you will often be the focus of much friendly attention;
14. to prepare yourself physically for the trip by slowly building up to an 80 km ride in hilly terrain a week or two before departure;
If you’re comfortable with the above, everything else being equal, you’ll probably have a great time and be a valued member of the group. So the next step is to complete this REGISTRATION FORM and email it by pressing the SUBMIT button below.
If you feel you need to know more there are MORE INFORMATION and FAQ buttons on the home page.
